Angels for Aging

Volunteers from our chapter provide visits, gifts and cards to residents of assisted living facilities in our communities.

Assault Survivor Kits®

Our chapter created the program. Other chapters across the United States have successfully adopted this program. This program provides clothing and personal items to survivors of assault which enables them to leave the hospital in a dignified manner.

Community Outreach

This program helps people who have an emergency need for goods and services.

Competencies for Independent Living

Our volunteers teach life skills to high school students in alternative education programs.

Dressing for Success

This program provides women and men entering or re-entering the workforce with job appropriate clothing through our Thrift Shop.

Operation School Bell®

Operation School Bell originated in 1958 in Bakersfield, California by Ruth Ann Montgomery. Our program, started in 1992, serves public school children in need ranging from Head Start through 12th grade within the Greater Placer communities. The Operation School Bell program provides new school clothing to eligible children who are referred by school personnel. Shopping for clothing takes place annually in the early fall and throughout the year as needed at a local department store. This program also provides new shoes, personal grooming kits, tutoring, backpacks and school supplies. In addition, "Books of My Own" provides third grade students with a personal dictionary of their own to promote literacy. Schools are assigned liaisons who work with them to implement Operation School Bell services.
A new program we have just added is "Kids on the Block". This is an educational puppet program performed in schools to enlighten children about bullying, school safety and learning disabilities.

Project Share

Our organization redistributes items that are no longer needed or are inappropriate for sales in our Thrift Shop to other 501 (c)(3) organizations.

Scholarships

Graduating high school students from selected alternative education programs may apply for scholarships to college or a trade school when they meet the eligibility requirements.

Sierra Bears

Our volunteers distribute teddy bears to hospitals and the California Highway Patrol to provide reassurance and comfort to children in traumatic situations.
